Description: Caustic Soda, also known as Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) or Lye, is a strong alkaline compound widely used across the personal care and household cleaning industries. As a powerful pH adjuster, it plays a critical role in stabilizing the acidity/alkalinity of formulations. In soap making, it is the primary ingredient responsible for the saponification process, where oils and fats are converted into soap.
Due to its high reactivity, Caustic Soda is also a key component in various household and industrial cleaning products, particularly in formulations designed to dissolve grease, remove stains, or unclog drains.
Note: Caustic Soda must be handled with care. Always add Caustic Soda to water—never water to Caustic Soda—to avoid dangerous heat reactions. Appropriate PPE (gloves, goggles, ventilation) is recommended when handling.
